The Apprentice 2010 contestants
by James Agate
Our favourite TV show is back. Lord Alan Sugar will be back, putting a band of loons through their paces in the toughest ‘job interview’, with series six of The Apprentice premiering on Wednesday 6 October at 9pm on BBC One.
Today, let’s meet the contestants -
(All odds provided by the Online Betting Guide and correct at time of hitting the publish button)
Joanna Riley
Joanna is a 25-year-old from Leicester. She owns a cleaning company and describes herself as “honest, direct and funny”. She rose from humble beginnings (similar to Lord Sugar himself) and here at WeLoveBusiness.co.uk, we have not doubt that she will try to draw this connection herself at some point during the reality TV competition job interview process.
Bookies odds – outside chance 17/1
Joy Stefanicki
Joy is a 31-year-old marketing director from Birmingham. A victim of the recession and now looking to rise to previous corporate heights with a shot at the six figure job.
Bookies odds – outside chance 17/1
Laura Moore
A 22-year-old business development manager from Warwickshire. Critics have said that at only 22, one year in business does not make a career. We say that £500k in new business in your first year is a good start so forget the naysayers.
Bookies Odds – 9/1
Liz Locke
A 24-year-old investment banker from Birmingham. Smarta.com added that Liz is probably the most likely to strike up a romance whilst on the show, they say by the third week.
Bookies Odds – 11/1
Melissa Cohen
Former hairdresser turned flood business manager – she is handy with a pair of scissors and not much of a team player threatening to mow anyone down that gets in her way.
Bookies Odds – 17/1
Sandeesh Samra
The usual recruitment consultant that seems to infiltrate the ranks of The Apprentice gang each year. This 26 year old describes herself as ‘ambitious and opinionated’… yawn, sorry Sandeesh, dropped off for a minute there, we’ve seen and heard this kind of thing many times before.
Bookies Odds – 15/1
Paloma Vivanco
This 29-year-old Peruvian is a marketing manager from London. Paloma has that well-know Apprentice contestant trait of modesty; describing herself as ‘a hyper-achiever’ claiming that everything she does is always a success.’ Something tells me Nick may have the usual slice of humble pie ready for this one at some point in the show.
Bookies Odds – 15/1
Stella English
This year’s Lucinda Legerwood in the sense that she probably earns more than a job with Alan Sugar offers any way. Stella is a 30 year old head of business management at a Japanese investment bank in London.
Bookies Odds – 8/1 second favourite
Alex Epstein
A fan of the corporate lexicon, Alex is currently unemployed apparently another victim of the recession, we think it is more likely your old employer just got fed up with your pearls of wisdom like “when everyone else is zigging you should zag”!
Bookies Odds – 21/1
Chris Bates
A 24-year-old investment banker from Surrey. He would love to head a pharmaceutical company that finds a cure for worldwide illnesses – a witty critic from The Guardian retorted “We can only assume that a stint with a company that makes Sky boxes and other technology destined for eventual landfill is exactly what big pharma is looking for.”
Bookies Odds – 10/1
Christopher Farrell
The 28 year old mortgage broker and former marine took part in the show despite being convicted of weapons offences and currently being on bail for alleged fraud. He describes himself as driven and target-focused but given that he is a trained sniper we dread to think what he means.
Bookies Odds – 9/1
Dan Harris
A 34-year-old sales director from Oxfordshire. The dad of two has completed three marathons and even played a German soldier in Saving Private Ryan.
Bookies Odds – 13/1 (we think he has a better chance given that he looks one of the more competent individuals to take part this year!)
Jamie Lester
A 28-year-old property developer from London. He started his own company at 24, growing revenues to £1,000,000 in just two-and-a-half years. He describes himself as ‘honest and trustworthy’ although it’s hard to shake off the fact that he used to be an estate agent! Despite this we like Jamie and think he could go far in the process. He is young, capable and seems Apprentice material.
Bookies Odds – 7/1 THE FAVOURITE
Raleigh Addington
This year’s token toff with the strange name and the queasy smile. Raleigh is a 22-year-old unemployed graduate from London. Describes himself as ruthless at monopoly which is great considering he doesn’t appear to have any real experience.
Bookies Odds – 21/1
Shibby Robati
This man is the stereotypical Apprentice candidate that never makes it far. He claims his first word was ‘money’ and was a surgeon (qualified, presumably) before moving into business development.
Bookies Odds – 11/1
Stuart Baggs
Last and least is Stuart, the bookies outsider, is the youngest Apprentice candidate ever. He started a telecommunications business at 18 and seems to be doing quite well for himself despite the fact that the man is an obvious prick with whom you’d avoid spending time with, at all costs. He looks a little like that ‘Syndrome’ character from The Incredibles and has a similar ego, describing himself as ‘Stuart the brand’.
Bookies Odds – 21/1 the rank outsider
