Fred the shred is back in town
Disgraced banker Fred Goodwin has returned to his home in Edinburgh following a 5 month self-imposed exile in a £4million villa on the French Riviera.
The former RBS chief has returned home before his wife and children who will join him again at their family home in Edinburgh in time for the new school term. The family have been staying in Cannes for the past 5 months as fears for their safety were raised following anti-capitalist protesters vandalising their house.
Mr Goodwin became the target of public hatred following the collapse of RBS and subsequent £20billion Government bailout which still saw him walk away with a pension pot worth in excess of £700,000 a year. Fred has subsequently surrendered some of the pension pot following the public outcry.
Sources close to Mr Goodwin have said that he wants to keep a low profile and hopes everything can get back to normal as quickly as possible for the sake of his wife and children.
Although many people believe this is unlikely to be possible because there is still considerable anger towards Mr Goodwin, even more so because many feel his self-imposed exile was simply a luxurious holiday whilst others were left to cope with the trail of destruction left in the UK by his time at the helm of RBS.
