ATTIK plans return to London
by James Agate
New talent in the form of creative directors, designers and account managers is being sought at powerhouse design firm ATTIK as the company plans a grand return to the capital following a decamp to Leeds.
ATTIK’s roots are in Yorkshire, and in 1995, armed with the very first edition of their experimental design book entitled Noise, plucky entrepreneurs Needham and Sommerville took the bold step of opening a new studio in London.
Over the years that followed, they enlisted some of the creative industry’s best and brightest talents, expanded worldwide, and attracted a “Who’s Who” of forward-thinking clientele in the course of establishing themselves as an extraordinary creative agency – winning clients like adidas, Coca-Cola and Toyota.
In 2001, economic challenges forced ATTIK to scale back some operations, leading to the closure of their London studio. As a result, 2007 saw ATTIK become a subsidiary of Dentsu, the world’s largest advertising agency brand, which is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.
Sommerville commented “We are very excited to be preparing our return to London, knowing we have the support and partnership of the world’s largest agency.”
Co-founders Simon Needham and James Sommerville said “London remains central to the world of design, and we all have very ambitious plans for ATTIK.“
At WeLoveBusiness.co.uk, it is always nice to hear a true entrepreneurial tale – one littered with success, challenges, failures, persistence and comebacks. Keep up the good work ATTIK
